Victoria's own queen of soul, Renee Geyer, will become the first woman inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame when a star-studded line-up comes together for the annual awards on November 20 in Melbourne.

Geyer, whose career stretches back to the early 1970s, will play a greatest hits set before joining past inductees, including Paul Kelly and last year's Weddings, Parties, Anything, in the hall of fame.

The Age Music Victoria Awards will celebrate Mushroom's 40-year contribution to the music industry with founder Michael Gudinski inducted into the hall of fame (non-musician) and guest singers Dan Sultan, Henry Wagons, Kylie Auldist and more playing at Billboard with the EG Allstars Soul Revue.

Geyer will be inducted by Arts Minister Heidi Victoria and said she was thrilled to share the night with so many talented performers.

''As a Melbourne girl, getting into the hall of fame by Music Victoria and the best newspaper in Australia means a lot to me,'' she said. ''And as a patron of Support Act Limited, it's great that the awards will continue to donate some profits to the musicians' charity.''

Music Victoria and The Age have joined forces to celebrate the state's musical riches in an all-Victorian awards and that will be voted for by the public. Polls open online at The Age on October 11.

Other guest singers are Archie Roach, Lance Ferguson, Nkechi Anele from Saskwatch, Talei Wolfgramm, Linda Bull and Ella Thompson.

See The Shortlist on Friday for the full story on Renee Geyer and The Age Music Victoria Awards.
